Psalm 116
I love the Lord,
for He heard my voice;
He heard my cry for mercy.
Because He turned His ear to me,
I will call on Him as long as I live
These 2 verses simply tell me about the attribute of God and the imperfectness of man. I cannot love the Lord, if He didn't love me first. But, because He LOVES me first, I come to love Him back. I would not call on Him before, but because He listened to me, He turned His ear to my cry, I call on Him as long as I live. It is simply not about me. It is about Him.
So, everytime I fail, God knew it already. God knew that I wouldn't be able to do something without Him. I also learn who God is and how does He look like.
The Lord is gracious and righteous;
Our God is full of compassion
Jesus, my God, is gracious. I don't understand what the righteous means though and why does it have to be included side by side with gracious. Probably, it's showing that God is righteous in the way that He is gracious. He is also full of compassion.
Compassion means: "a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering" (dictionary.com).
He wants to cure me. He wants to meet with me. My desire is nothing compared to God's. The evidence is that He is ALWAYS the ONE who's looking out for me. Amen! =)
I learn today about depending on God again. I realized, how naive I was. Even until now. People are telling me to be a little tricky over here and there and I don't feel good about it. People are telling me if I don't do it, then people will lay their hands upon me and do something bad. I really want to be as naive as before. I like the way God created me. I don't want to be contaminated with other things that people think could save their lives. It's proven in this verse from Psalm 116 also.
The Lord protects the simplehearted;
when I was in great need, He saved me
See? He protects the simplehearted. I looked this word up in dictionary.com and found that it means "sincere, ingenuous, naive, innocent..." He protects them. He won't let people deceit me. I love Him. =)
How can I repay the Lord
for all His goodness to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord
How can I? I can never. All I can is to serve Him by lifting up the cup of salvation. Sharing His gospel, how He saved my life from merely religiosity-bound Christian, to a changed-in-heart-and-still-progressing Christian. How the relationship with Him is the most important thing in my life. By lifting it up, not hiding it. As I lift it up, I will call on the name of the Lord. Calling Him, praying out to Him. Amazing man..Jesus is amazing. My Jesus is amazing. Devil has NO control over me. Jesus only has control over me.
I will fulfill my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all His people
I am actually surprised by this verse. I remember my vow, well, you can say it's a promise to God. I said that I would be a full timer. I think God is asking for me to keep my word. Since days ago, even weeks ago, I knew that I would be a full timer. But I thought, I would keep it and tell this later on as I grew up. But then, since yesterday, God is telling me to do it NOW. to proclaim it to my friends, family, etc. Hmmm....God, I will pray to You again. Confirm me again. Please...
I am praising Him because He made me able to understand this Psalm. =) I believe, when I let God works in and through me, He would do something great out of it. Like this, I won't be beaten Jesus, because I have You. You have promised to me that You will never leave me nor forsake me. I believe Your promise is true and amen! I won't give up.
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
He hears me when I call
Love Jesus, because He loves me first.
